PURPOSE:To eliminate partial penetration of a casting surface and to obtain the casting surface which is uniform over the entire part of a casting by acting uniformly the effect of evacuation and suction on a casting mold from the entire side surface thereof. CONSTITUTION:A molten metal is cast by a casting mold which has a parting plane 33 in a horizontal direction and is provided with a mold carity 8 on the plane 33 and a parting plane 33 in a horizontal direction and is provided with the runner aperture extending therefrom at the bottom end of the mold. In this stage, a) the mold is placed atop a suction pipe 8 made of a heat resistant material and having a hole 71 larger than the runner aperture, b) the pipe 7 and the top surface of the mold are held and evacuation is acted on the mold from the side face thereof by a vacuum pump 11 via a hose 6, c) the bottom end of the suction pipe 7 is sunk into the molten metal 1 in a vessel 2 to the underside thereof by a device 5 such as a hoist to introduce the metal 1 into the cavity 8 and d) when the metal 1 is filled in the cavity 8, the bottom end of the pipe 7 is detached from the surface of the metal 1 by the device 5. |
