METHOD FOR PREPARING MODEL FOR ESTIMATING POWER CONSUMPTION OF CIRCUIT AND METHOD FOR ESTIMATING POWER CONSUMPTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a model for estimating the power consumption of a circuit by improving conventional macro modeling technique. SOLUTION: The input space of the circuit is generated first. The input circuit is divided into a plurality of power consumption modes corresponding to areas showing similar power consumption behaviors. A distinct power consumption model is generated concerning each of the plurality of power consumption modes. Based on the present and past value of input to the circuit, a power consumption mode identification function for selecting a proper power consumption model from the distinct power consumption model is prepared. Division into the plurality of power consumption modes is possible by preparing the power consumption model with respect to the power consumption of the whole circuit, generating a power consumption profile by using the power consumption model, identifying homogeneous areas within the power consumption profile and characterizing each of the homogeneous area as the power consumption mode.
