PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method that allows a photographer to clearly recognize an operating state of a video camera such as a video recording state or a standby state on a finder or a monitor screen of a video camera. SOLUTION: This invention provides the method displaying the operating state of the video camera characterized in capable of displaying at least one diagonal line in a screen image during a standby state on the finder or the monitor screen of the video camera and provides its video camera. Since the photographer can clearly recognize the indication of the operating state of the video camera such as a video recording state or a standby state on the finder or the monitor screen of the video camera, the photographer prevents the indication from being overlooked and erroneous operation due to overlooking. Moreover, the photographer uses the video camera adopting this method to record a video image easily handled by the photographer and intended by the photographer.
