PURPOSE:To eliminate the wasteful use of a multicolor ink ribbon, by making it possible to mount a unicolor ink ribbon cassette and a multicolor ink ribbon cassette to a carriage while enabling the independent exchange thereof. CONSTITUTION:A unicolor (black color) ink ribbon cassette 30 and a multicolor ink ribbon cassette 31 are mounted on the table 34 of the ink ribbon selecting apparatuses 32, 34 of a carriage 24 reciprocally moving on a guide shaft 23 in a superposed state. By this mechanism, the unicolor ink ribbon cassette 30 and the multicolor ink ribbon cassette 31 can be independently exchanged and an ink ribbon having a desired color is selected by the ribbon selecting apparatuses 32, 34 to perform printing while the blade 42 provided to the shaft 41 of a pulley 39 rotating with the movement of the carriage drives the wind-up roller of the ink ribbon corresponding to printing to perform ribbon feed. |
