PURPOSE:To produce a wire rod or steel bar which can be processed to an intricate shape or at a high reduction of area by subjecting a steel billet or cast billet contg. a specific ratio of C, Si, Mn, Al, Ti, Nb and B to hot rolling and cooling under specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:A steel billet or cast billet which consists of 0.001-0.03% C, <=0.05% Si, 0.10-1.0% Mn and 0.01-0.10% Al, is added with Ti, Nb and B alone or in combination thereto so as to contain <=0.3% Ti, <=0.3% Nb and B/N=0.75-1.5 and consists of the balance iron with inevitable impurities is heated in the temp. range of the A1 transformation or above and the A3 transformation point +150 deg.C and is hot rolled at >=2.0 total elongation rate of the rolled material in the temp. range where the two phases of ferrite and austenite coexist. The rolled material is cooled at <5 deg.C/sec between 800-400 deg.C after the hot rolling. |
