PURPOSE:To enhance the strength and wear-resistant property of a cutting edge, by thinning or removing the coated film in the vicinity of the cutting edge of a coated sintered hard alloy cutting tool on both its rake surface and its flank. CONSTITUTION:On the outer surface of a base member 4 made of sintered hard alloy, a material 5 which is harder than the base member 4 is coated, and in the vicinity of the cutting edge thereof, the thickness of the coated film is thinned or removed on both its rake surface and its flank. |
