PURPOSE:To make a plane work buffable at constant buffing pressure all the time regardless of wear in a buff and plate thickness, by balancing the dead load of a movable part with a lower air piston, while setting the buffing pressure by a buff roll with an upper air piston. CONSTITUTION:While feeding a plane work 1 horizontally with a backup roll 3 and a pinch roll 4, a buff roll 2 is forcibly pressed with the specified buffing pressure, thus surface buffing takes place. This buffing pressure is securable in a way of controlling a hold between piston rods 51 and 61 of both lower and upper pistons 50 and 60 installed vertically in opposition to a bearing 20 of the buff roll 2 with air pressure. First, air pressure to the lower piston 50 is set to such one as commensurate to the total weight of the buff roll 2, the bearing 20, pistons 50 and 60 and rods 51 and 61, making the buff roll 2 into a state of nongravity within a piston stroke. Then, such pressure as being commensurable with the buffing pressure is fed to the upper piston 60. Thus, improvements in uniformity and working properties of buff work are promoted. |
