PURPOSE:To improve the molten-salt resistance of an electrolyte-holding body so as to extend the life of a molten-salt fuel cell and to improve the mechanical strength of the elecrolyte-holding body by using a sintered body of lithium aluminate powder to form the electolyte-holding body. CONSTITUTION:After lithium aluminate powder with a mean particle diameter of 0.2mum, ethanol, polyvinyl butyral and dioctyl phthalate are mixed, the mixture is subjected to preliminarily molding to make a raw sheet. The thus preliminarily molded raw sheet is baked in an electric furnace at a temperature at which lithium aluminate powder is sintered. The baking temperature is derermined according to the porosity of an electrolyte-holding body to be obtained. By the means mentioned above, the molten salt resistance of the electrolyte-holding body is improved, thereby enabling the life of a molten-salt fuel cell to be greatly extended. Besides, the mechanical strength of the electrolyte-holding body can be increased. |
