PURPOSE:To produce easily a copper bar which is free from crazing and has high quality by removing the soot residue sticking on the casting wheel and movable endless belt of a continuous casting device for copper by means of a scrubbing body or said body in conjunction with high pressure washing water. CONSTITUTION:A continuous casting device for copper covers the channel of a casting wheel 10 which is provided rotatably with an endless belt 11 which is stretched on supporting wheels 12-16 and moves continuously to form a casting mold, charges the molten copper from the spout 19 of a tundish 18 into the casting mold, cools the molten copper to solidify by a cooler 22 and draws out continuously a copper bar 23. Soot is coated as a mold parting material on the inside of said channel and the surface of the belt 11 which comes on the inside in the position 20 before the copper is cast. A scrubbing body 25 is further attached to the wheel 10 and the belt 11 right after drawing out of the bar 23, then high pressure washing water 26 is ejected to remove the remaining soot sticking thereon. The crazing of the bar 23 occuring in the stuck soot residue is thus prevented. |
