In a slide compensator for an axial pipe duct system, which compensator 3 comprises two tubular compensation elements 4, 5 which are provided with fastening members 6, 7 for fastening the compensation elements in duct parts which are movable in relation to one another, and, located between the compensation elements, an annular slide packing 8 for sealing the compensation elements relative to one another and clamping members for clamping the packing against one compensation element 4, the slide packing comprises at least one band-shaped sliding packing 9 which connected in a floating manner to one compensation element 5, so that the packing and its clamping member follows the axial movement of one compensation element 5 and the radial movement of the other compensation element 4. The clamping members 13, 14 exert direct radial pressure on the sliding packing 9 so as to press it against the other compensation element 4. <IMAGE>
