PURPOSE:To decrease the number of access arms to reduce the mobile mass as well as to reduce the space of the distribution surface among magnetic disks, by holding a pair of magnetic heads at the tip part of the access arm as if these heads held the magnetic disks. CONSTITUTION:Three access arms 23a-23c are linearly distributed opposite to the side faces of magnetic disks 2a-2c respectively. A pair of downward and upward magnetic head mechanism parts 24a and 24b are held at the tip parts of said access arms as if they hold the disks 2a-2c. In such a constitution, the arms 23a-23c never go into the spaces of distribution surface among disks 2a- 2c respectively. The distribution space width of magnetic disks is reduced by an amount equivalent to the thickness of the access arm. This decreases the number of access arms and reduces the mobile mass of the actuator mobile part. Thus a miniature and light-weight structure is possible for a magnetic disk device with a high-speed access. |
