PURPOSE:To efficiently separate lubricant oil from coolang gas containing the former with no provision of an oil separator, by detouring coolant gas in a long distance with a compressor so that coolant gas is subjected to repetitions of impingement upon the wall of the compressor and frictional action. CONSTITUTION:Coolant gas which is sucked into pump chambers 9 during a suction stroke and is then discharged into discharge passages 21 on both sides of a cylinder 3a through discharge ports 19, respectively, during a discharge stroke, turns its direction when it impinges upon plate walls 21a, and therefore, flows into a front space through first communication passages 22 on both sides of the cylinder 3a. Then, after turning of its direction by impingement upon the front wall of a front head 1a, both streams of coolant gas flow along the inner periphery of the front space, merging together in the upper section of the front space, and flow into an intermediate space 16 through an upper second communication passage 23. Then, coolant gas flows from a third communication passage to a discharge port through a rear space and is finally fed into an external circuit. During the above-mentioned period lubricant oil contained in coolant gas is detoured in a long distance within the compressor so that lubricant oil is surely separated from the coolant due to repetitions of impingement against the wall of the compressor and due to friction with respect to the wall, and drops in the lower section of a casing.
