PURPOSE:To precisely recognize the nature of the soil of the sea bed portions just under the grounding positions of the legs of a jack-up rig by measuring and displaying the state and the nature of the soil of said sea bed portions on which the legs are to be grounded when the rig reaches the position of the sea wherein the rig is to be operated. CONSTITUTION:Instruments 28 for surveying the nature of the soil in the sea bed are arranged in footings 16 fixed to the bottoms of legs 12. When a platform 14 reaches a desired working position, the legs 12 are lowered in the sea and the footings 16 reach the sea bed,the instruments 28 display that the footings 16 reach the sea floor on the CRT of a monitor TV set. That is, the roll of the sea bed can be known from the positions of the footings 16 (FOOT POSITION) as a display and as an inclination alpha, beta, or gamma on the screen of the CRT. Further, the depths (EXP, PEN) to which the footings 16 are penetrated into mud in response to the softness of the soil of the sea bed are displayed on the screen of the CRT of the monitor TV set. Thus, the nature of the soil of the sea just under the grounding positions of the legs can be precisely recognized. |
