PURPOSE:To suppress the evaporation and erasion of a lubricant film on the surface of a magnetic disk and always to maintain the lubricant film in the best lubricant state, by using a lubricant generating source which is exposed into the circulation of hot air current and produces the lubricant vapor. CONSTITUTION:When a disk drive mechanism 5 is driven to give a high-speed revolution to a magnetic disk 1, a hot air current produced by a windage loss circulates as shown by arrows. Thus the temperature rises up inside an airtight container 7, and at the same time a member 10 impregnated with a lubricant is also heated. Thus the lubricant is evaporated. This lubricant vapor is transmitted through a filter 11 to get rid of dust, etc., and the clean lubricant steam is obtained. This clean vapor passes through a center venthole 3 drilled at the center of a hub mechanism 2 and flows among disks 1 through small ventholes 4 to be filled into an airtight container 7. Thus the balance is kept between the lubricant vapor pressure of the lubricant film on the surface of each disk 1 and the steam pressure generated by the increment of temperature. Thus it is possible to maintain at all times the lubricant film on the surface of the disk 1 in a steady state having good lubricant characterisitcs. |
