PURPOSE:To possibly minimize the initial clearance between a movable scroll member and a stationary scroll member which is exposed to open air by shaping the movable scroll member out of a material having lower coefficient of thermal expansion than that of the material of the stationary scroll member so as to make the thermal expansions of both the scroll members approach to each other. CONSTITUTION:A movable scroll member 9 is enclosed all around by a housing 5 and a stationary scroll member 11, however, the stationary scroll member 11 is exposed to open air throughout the external periphery thereof so that it cools the member 11. The stationary scroll member 11 and th movable scroll member 9 are shaped out of iron and carbon fiber reinforced aluminum having lower coefficient of thermal expansion than the iron, respectively. Since the movable scroll member 9 has lower coefficient of thermal expansion than that of the stationary scroll member 11, the thermal expansions of both the scroll members 9 and 11 approach to take substantially near values finally. The initial clearance may be minimized possibly but the contact of both the scroll members 9 and 11 be prevented.
