<p>PURPOSE:To improve charging efficiency during high rotation of an engine, by utilizing a suction pressure wave produced within the suction passage of the suction device of a multicylinder engine having a supercharger. CONSTITUTION:In an engine operation range (5,000-7,000rpm) in which an exhaust pressure, exerted on an exhaust port 13, is increased by, for example, 100 mm.Hg over a suction pressure (supercharging pressure) at the downstream of a supercharger 17, during opening of a suction port 9 of one cylinder, for example, a third cylinder 1c, a strong compressive wave is produced in the vicinity of the suction port 9. After the compressive wave passes, in order, through a third suction passage 5c, a communicating passage 11, and a first suction passage 5a, it is propagated right before the suction port 9 of a first cylinder 1A is opened. During opening, by means of the compressive wave, a suction air is pressed in a combustion chamber 2 through the suction port 9 of a first cylinder 1A which is brought into the terminal stage of a suction stroke, whereupon supercharging takes place.</p> |
