The fixture (18) is movable along the lifting arm (14) from an inner handling position to one outer for lifting. This movement takes place against the bias of a gas spring (32). The fixture is also attached to a line (26) or similar in the lifting arm, which is fitted around a brake plate (36) at the end of the piston connecting rod (34) of the gas spring. Resistance in the gas spring against movement of the lifting arm fixture is constant during motion, and there is no risk of the fixture stopping in an unrequired position between those for handling and lifting. |
