PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molding drum drive device for a tyre molding machine which can realize a sufficient miniaturization and which can also suppress equipment costs low without requiring high processing and assembling accuracy so much. SOLUTION: A main spindle 5, which has an internal and external double shaft structure, is supported by bearings at two places in the axial line direction, and whose shaft end is coupled to the center shaft 2 of a tyre molding drum 1, is provided. And at the same time, a brake means 27 for constraining the rotation of the external shaft 6 of the main spindle 5. Also, an intermediate shaft 10, which is extended almost in parallel to the main spindle 5, is provided. And at the same time, the intermediate shaft 10 is drivingly coupled to the internal shaft 7 of the main spindle 5 and a motor 16 respectively. A clutch 22, which causes the drive and the stop of a pulley 21 on the intermediate shaft drivingly coupled to the external shaft 6 of the main spindle 5, is arranged to the intermediate shaft 10.
