PURPOSE:To provide an optical recording medium which permits writing of information thereon by laser light of a small output with high sensitivity, has excellent resistance to corrosion and withstands long-term storage by providing a thin film contg. a metal of gold or platinum group via a thin transparent film consisting of a sublimable material on a base plate. CONSTITUTION:A recording layer 2 consisting of a thin film contg. a metal of a gold or platinum group is formed via a thin film consisting of a sublimable material on a transparent plastic base plate 1 of polymethyl methacrylate or polycarbonate. Various phthalocyanines including, for example, copper phthalocyanine are usable for the sublimable material. If laser light for writing of information is irradiated to such optical recording medium, the thin metallic film heats up and softens by absorbing the laser light. The heat is transmitted to the thin film consisting of the sublimable material adjacent thereto, by which the film is evaporated to have the increased pressure. The softened thin metallic film is thus extruded and a bubble-shaped deformation is generated. The pressure increase owing to the evaporation of the sublimable material is applied in this invention in the above-mentioned way so that the definite writing by the light power smaller than in the prior art is accomplished. |
