The present invention relates to a method and to a device for checking the operation of digital equipment supplying a train of data at high frequency. The method is characterised in that a repetitive train TR of digital data at high frequency f is recorded by samples I, II, III, IV etc. during each stimulation period tau , each sample being constituted by a constant or variable number M of megabits, in that the samples I, II, III, IV etc. thus recorded are read between the end of one sampling and the end of the following sampling, and in that the samples I, II, III, IV etc. thus read are multiplexed so that the original repetitive train TR of digital data at high frequency f is reconstituted into a train TLR of reduced frequency. Application to checking the operation of telemetry multiplexers used for data on board a satellite. <IMAGE>
