PURPOSE:A rubber composition for vulcanization that is obtained by adding magnesium dioxide to an ethylene-propylene rubber, thus increasing remarkably resistance to heat aging and becoming vulcanizable with sulfur to be used suitably as an electric insulating material. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition is obtained by combining 100pts.wt. of an ethylene-propylene rubber such as a binary copolymer of ethylene and propylene or a terpolymer from ethylene, propylene and a nonconjugated diene, with 3-10pts.wt. of magnesium dioxide, when necessary, fillers, vulcanization assistant, vulcanization accelerator, antioxidants or the like.
