PURPOSE:To obtain monofilaments having a high strength and improved repeated flexural fatigue resistance without trouble of filament breakage at a nozzle nor in drawing, etc., by melt extruding a polyethylene (PE) resin composition obtained by incorporating polyethylene resin with a specific ethylene-propylene block copolymer, and drawing the resultant monofilaments. CONSTITUTION:Polyethylene resin having preferably 0.1-2g/10min melt index is incorporated with 0.5-5.0wt%, preferably 1.0-3.0wt% ethylene-propylene block copolymer having preferably 0.5-10g/10min melt flow ratio (MFR) to give a resin composition, which is then melt extruded. The resultant extrudate is further drawn, preferably at a draw ratio as high as 11-20 times to afford the aimed monofilaments. The above-mentioned copolymer is preferably produced by preparing homopolymer of propylene or a copolymer containing a small amount of ethylene in the first stage, and polymerizing ethylene-propylene copolymer rubber in the second stage.
