PURPOSE:To perform the accurate control of a film thickness by adjusting the gap between rolls, by detecting the pressing force of the rolls by a torque sensor to compare the same with set torque while advancing and retracting the step angle of a step motor. CONSTITUTION:A step motor 12 and a torque sensor 13 are provided to a base table 3 and the step motor 12 is connected to the precise screw 14 of a first receiving table 4 through the torque sensor 13 to form a gap amount adjusting mechanism 11 while the first receiving table 4 is made forwardly and backwardly movable with respect to the base table 3 by the rotation of the step motor 12. By this method, the pressing force of an applicator roll to a back-up roll and the pressing force of the back-up roll to the applicator roll are detected by the troque sensor 13 to be compared with set torque and the precise screw is driven through the step motor to control the coating amount.
