A motor-vehicle seat is disclosed which has a seat upholstery element, a seat suspension which bears the latter, support elements which are arranged to the side of the seat upholstery element and are attached to the floor of the vehicle body and a holding device for the seat upholstery element, which device consists of a front and rear connecting strut which connect the support elements and of a holding element which is attached to the latter or/and to the seat upholstery element. The holding element is a frame which encloses the seat suspension and can comprise an upper and a lower frame component. The holding frame, which bears the seat upholstery element in a spring-mounted fashion and to which the seat upholstery element is attached and which itself is permanently connected to the support elements, transmits forces which are exerted on the upholstery to the support elements. By means of a suitable design of the suspension which is enclosed by the frame, a stable seating position for the seated person can be ensured and the said person can be prevented from slipping forwards along the seat.
