Metallurgical vessel lining by vibrational compaction - using mixt. of basic refractory granules and hydrocarbon binder

In a lining process comprising vibrational compaction of granular refractory material in the space between a former and a wall of a metallurgical vessel, the refractory material is pre-mixed with a binder consisting predominantly (pref. completely) of hydrocarbon material(s). Process is esp. useful for forming a wear lining on the safety lining of a vessel, such as a casting ladle, tundish or electric furnace, and allows the vibrational compaction process to be applied to basic refractory materials, e.g. dolomite, which cannot be used with aq. binder solns.
