Polishing stack for thermoplastic sheets and films of different melt viscosities

Polishing stacks consist as a rule of polishing rolls, the surface of which reproduces the mirror image of the surface of the produced thermoplastic product. The aforementioned invention operates with a polishing belt. This polishing belt is pressed by an elastic roll onto the surface of the thermoplastic in such a manner that a contact surface results at the contact line. In the transverse position the flexible polishing belt can thus bridge small differences in thickness of the sheets or films produced and produce the surface qualitatively in the manner of an elaborate calender polishing stack. Optionally the surface can also be grained by the same process and provided with structures. The device consists of a sheet die (1), a polishing roll (5), an elastic backing roll (9) and a polishing belt (8).
