PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crescent lock which is equipped with an idle locking preventive function that allows the crescent lock to be set only when an inside sash and an outside sash are both closed. SOLUTION: According to the structure of the crescent lock, an operating member 7 is oscillatingly arranged on a rotatable member inclusive of a crescent 5 so as to have one end thereof abut on a crescent accommodating fitting 11, and an idle locking preventive member 8 is arranged in an operating lever 6. The idle locking preventive member is kept energized toward the crescent 5, allows a protrusion 7b formed on the other end of the operating member 7 to engage therewith, and has a linear slot 8b formed therein in a tangent direction with respect to a circle about a crescent rotation axis 4 as the center. Further the base member 3 has formed thereon sliding contact portions 3c, 3d on which the tip of the idle locking preventive member 8 slides, and an engaging step portion 3e formed at an intermediate location between the sliding contact portions 3c, 3d, for allowing the tip of the idle locking preventive member 8 to engage therewith.
