The circuit arrangement serves as an electronic log book for detecting the distance covered by a motor vehicle as a function of predetermined grouping criteria. A displacement pulse transmitter (6) transmits to a computer (1) via an input/output circuit (4) pulses which correspond to the distance covered, which computer (1) separately adds up and stores the displacement pulses in a data memory (3) as a function of grouping criteria entered via a keyboard (9). The computer (1) is controlled by a program memory (2). Additionally, it receives information from a clock (11) and a transmitter which indicates whether the vehicle is operational, for example by means of an ignition lock switch (8). On request, specific entered data and/or data which have been calculated from entered data are printed out via a printer (13) after the journey has ended. <IMAGE>
