PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a frictional material which does not lower the coefficient of friction not only in the region of room temperature to 200°C but also in a high temperature region of≥300°C and excels in judder resistance. SOLUTION: This frictional material is obtained by molding a composition comprising a fiber base material, a binder, a rubber composition, and a friction modifier and curing the molded article, and comprises both melamine powder and melamine dust as the friction modifier, and the amount of the melamine powder used is 0.5-8 vol.% based on the entire composition and the amount of the sum of the melamine powder and the melamine dust used is 5-20 vol.% based on the entire composition.
