PURPOSE:To obtain a copied image superior in resolution by forming a writing layer having high coercive force and vertical magnetic anisotropy on a substrate, forming a reading layer having high residual magnetization, and vertical magnetic anisotropy on the writing layer, recording by the thermomagnetic recording method, and magnetically transferring the record. CONSTITUTION:A writing layer 2 made of TbFe alloy or the like having low Curie temp., or magnetic compensation temp. near normal temp., and high coercive force at normal temp. is formed on a substrate 1. A reading layer 2 made of a CoCr alloy or the like having high residual magnetization and vertical magnetic anisotropy is formed on the layer 2. An original 5 having an image 6 is overlaid on the side of the substrate 1, thermal rays are irradiated from a light source 4 to heat the layer 2 while an external magnetic field Hz1 is applied with a magnetic field coil 7, and a magnetic latent image 8 is formed after cooling. Then, an external magnetic field Hz2 stronger than that Hz1 is applied to form a magnetic latent image 9 in the layer 3. Finally, a magnetic toner image 10 is formed and transferred to a transfer paper 11 and fixed, thus permitting formation of an image high in resolution and good in halftone reproducibility. |
