NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by the formula I [R1 is H, hydrocarbon residue which may contain substituent group; R2 is -OR3, or -NH-R4(R3 and R4 are H, or hydrocarbon residue which may contain substituent group); with the proviso that a case where R1 is H or acetyl and R2 is OH is omitted] and its salt. EXAMPLE:[(R)-3-Carboxy-2-formylaminopropyl] trimethylammonium picrate. USE:A remedy for diabetes. In diabetes, liberation of fatty acid in fat tissue is promoted because of insulin deficiency, decomposition of fatty acid accelerated, and formation of ketone compound is increased, but specifically inhibitory action of this agent on decomposition of fatty acid results in reduction in blood sugar value. PREPARATION:A compound shown by the formula II or its salt is subjected to reaction of introduction of hydrocarbon residue, esterified and/or amidated, to give a compound shown by the formula I . |
