PURPOSE:To adjust a roller gap so as to quickly and exactly coincide with a product width and to obtain the product having excellent dimensional accuracy by executing the reduction movement of skin pass rollers until the non-contact state thereof with a wire or rod is attained and stopping the reduction movement at the same instant when the rollers contact with the wire or rod. CONSTITUTION:The skin pass rollers 6A, 6B are pivotally supported by a pair of eccentric shafts 7A, 7B. Worm wheels 8A, 8B and worms 9A, 9B to rotate the shafts 7A, 7B as well as a speed reduction mechanism 1, a motor 16 and a current breaker are provided. The roller gap of the skin pass rollers 6A, 6B is set wide in the stage of rolling. The product shape on the outlet side of the finishing rolls 1A, 1B is adjusted to a desired shape and thereafter a reduction start button is operated to move the rollers 6A, 6B in the reduction direction. The current breaker operates in the overcurrent state of the motor 16 to stop the motor when the gap of the rollers 6A, 6B coincides with the product width. |
