In elbow crutches with exchangeable grip sleeves as aids for people with a walking impediment, the grip pieces 1 being made of plastic, the handle mounts 3, which can be produced with a limited thickness only, often break off under the action of the constant bending stress and the upper support pipes 5 employed are usually loosened. These deficiencies are eliminated by a heat-treated spring steel pin 6 which is inserted by injection moulding approximately up to the reception hole 15, the pin being forced in after insertion of the upper support pipe 5 to such an extent that it penetrates at least one wall of the pipe. <IMAGE>
