In order to render it possible for shopping trolleys (1) whose rear wall is constructed as a flap (9) which can be pivoted into the basket interior to be pushed into one another optimally even if an additional, pivotable shelf (16) covering the rear of the basket area (4) is present, the invention provides to arrange or to guide the pivoting axis (22) of this shelf (16) such that it can escape upwards. As a result, when such shopping trolleys (1) are pushed into one another it is possible for the flap (9) to hit against the shelf (16) during its pivoting motion, and for said shelf to be raised as a consequence of its special mounting into a position parallel to the flap (9). <IMAGE>
