A probe (10) which is inserted through the wall of a tube (11) into a flow contains an electromagnet which produces a magnetic field (19) inside the tube. Electrodes (20) are fitted on the sides of the housing (12) of the probe (10). In order that the flow separates at defined points on the part (13) of the housing (12) which is inserted into the tube, and in order that the separation points do not vary as a function of the flow rate and the viscosity of the fluid, turbulence rods (25) are fitted to the housing (12). <IMAGE>
