The dyes are represented by the following general formula <IMAGE> in which X denotes a hydrogen atom, a chlorine atom or bromine atom, -A- denotes a methylene group, an ethylene group, a propylene group or a 1,3-butylene group, n denotes 0 or 1, -Y- denotes a connecting group -O- or -S-, R<1> and R<2> each denote a hydrogen atom, or an alkyl or alkenyl group, each of which can optionally be substituted by a cyano group, a hydroxyl group, a lower alkoxy group or a dialkylamino group, or R<1> and R<2>, together with the bonded nitrogen atom, can be connected to give a 5- or 6-membered nitrogen-containing heterocycle with the total carbon atom number for R<1> and R<2> of up to 18.
