In the rotary drum, the bearing plates (4) supporting the internally toothed running ring (2) are in the region of their axial end edges fastened via an external weld seam (5) on the rotary-drum casing (1). Situated in each of the bearing plate parts (4a, 4b) projecting axially beyond the running ring (2) is a central recess (6) with a fastening weld seam (7) which runs around in an annular manner on its edge and the running-ring-side part (7a) of which is offset radially outwards in relation to the beginning (5a) of the external weld seam (5). This leads on the one hand to an especially reliable fastening of each bearing plate and results on the other hand in a mechanically less stressed bearing plate part in the region of the running ring end sides. <IMAGE>
