A pivotal friction joint (16) is made by preforming either a pivot or a socket (usually the pivot, 17) with parts of its surface at different radii from its axis and then moulding a rotatable member (21) containing the other of the pivot and socket about the preformed socket or pivot (usually the socket) so that there is frictional contact between coacting surfaces (19,22). P.V.C., A.B.S., polysufone or aluminium are used for the pivot and the member providing the socket is typically made from acetal, polyester, polysulfone or polycarbonate. The joint is used in four bar window stays (11). <IMAGE> |
