PURPOSE:To form a connection part with small loss variation by using a thermosetting, thermoplastic, or ultraviolet setting adhesive incorporated with organic material. CONSTITUTION:When a connection is made, the plastic coating layer of an optical fiber 1 is removed and the core 2 is so cut as to obtain a good end surface; and fiber end surfaces are set in an abutting state with a proper jig such as a V-groove substrate 3. Then, the abutting parts are adhered together with an inorganic material incorporated adhesive 5 which has a refractive index nearly equal to that of the core part of the fibers and large adhesive strength. Then, the connection part is sandwiched between reinforcing plates 7 and 7' and fixed with an adhesive 6. |
