PURPOSE:To avoid the deterioration of the cooling ability caused by the welding distortion at the welded part of a metal sheet by a method wherein, in a foil winding, a finishing end of a metal sheet which is in the process of winding and a starting end of a metal sheet to be spliced are welded through a surface of a cooling duct. CONSTITUTION:An exposed part A of a surface of a cooling duct 9 is not covered by an insulating sheet 8 and a finishing end 7a of an initial metal sheet 7 in the process of winding is heated and welded to the surface of the exposed part A. On the other hand, a starting end 7b of a new metal sheet 7 to be spliced with the finishing end 7a is heated and welded to the part, close to the finishing end 7a of the metal sheet 7, of the surface of the cooling duct 9. With this method, the finishing end 7a of the initial metal sheet 7 and the starting end 7b of the new metal sheet 7 are spliced through the cooling duct 9. With this constitution, the spliced parts of the metal sheet 7 are welded through the highly rigid cooling duct so that the deterioration of the cooling ability caused by the welding distortion at the welded part is avoided. |
