PURPOSE:To provide an oil-sol. rust preventive which is excellent in rust preventive property and oil solubility and emits little foul odor, prepd. by interaction of a specified amine, glycidyl ether, 2,5-Dimercapto-1,3,4-thiazole and alkenylsuccinic anhydride. CONSTITUTION:A mixt. of 2-60pts. amine of formula I [where R is a 4-22C (un)satd. hydrocarbon group or a 4-22C beta-hydroxyhydrocarbon group; R<1> is H or a 1-22C (un)satd. hydrocarbon group; R<2> is H or methyl; n is 0 or 1] and 1- 30pts. glycidyl ether of formula II (where R<3> is a 4-18C chain, cyclic or chain- contg. cyclic hydrocarbon group) is heated at 90 deg.C for interaction for 1-3hr while the temp. of the reaction product is controlled to below 120 deg.C in order to obtain a secondary or tertiary amine. 2,5-Dimercapto-1,3,4-thiazole of formula IIIis added to the amine in less than equivalent amt. for interaction at 85-90 deg.C for 2-6hr. Then alkylsuccinic anhydride of formula IV is added to the reaction product to neutralize excess secondary or tertiary amine. |
