PURPOSE:To protect an image from discoloration due to oxidation, heat, light or the like, by a method wherein a sheet having a heat-fusible layer is brought into close contact with an image surface of a recorded material, and the heat-fusible layer is heated to form a protective layer on the surface of the image. CONSTITUTION:The sheet A constituted of a base 1 and the heat-fusible layer 2 is brought into close contact with the recorded material B comprising an image 5 on a recording material 4, and the resultant laminate is fed between a heated roll 6 provided with a heater 8 and a back roll 7 by guide rolls 9. The layer 2 is melted by the heat transmitted from the side of the base 1 of the sheet A, and is transferred onto the surface of the image 5 as the protective layer 2'. Other than the heated roll, a heated head can be used as a heating means, and the surface of the heating means is preferably formed of a heat-resistant material such as a metal, a silicone rubber, a silicone resin or Teflon. Heating may be conducted from the side of the recording material 4 of the recorded material B. |
