An IM(Instant Message) charging method and a system thereof are provided to enable a terminal which performs IM communication to give qualifications for IM charging exemption to another terminal, so that the terminal can charge for an IM service of another terminal, thus the IM service of another terminal is automatically charged to the terminal. A random one of plural terminals is set to a target terminal for charging for an IM service, and the other terminal is set to a target terminal exempted from the IM service(101,103). During IM communication between the random terminal and the other terminal, an IM service charging process occurring by the other terminal is charged to the random terminal(105-113). If a charging rejection request is received from one of the terminals, the setup of the target terminals is canceled(111,115). |
