PURPOSE:To prevent defect owing to a welding deviation by disposing an IR camera in the butt part on a non-welding surface side, monitoring the temp. displacement in the butt direction of steel plates, discriminating the deviation between a gap point and a core wire from the temp. displacement and correcting the position of the core wire. CONSTITUTION:An IR camera 14 is disposed via a reflecting mirror 15 on a non- welding surface side to monitor the temp. displacement of steel plates including a part of a gap 5-1 in the butt direction thereof in the stage of butting a steel strip 3 to the end of a steel pipe 4 and subjecting the weld zone 5 thereof to submerged arc welding by a welding core wire 6. The temp. displacement detected with the camera 14 is image-identified by a synchroscope 18 via a signal processor 16 and the positional relation between the central part of the inflection points X and Y of the temp. displacement and the max. temp. point C is analyzed with the processor 16, by which the deviation in the position of the core wire 6 is corrected by a position controller 17. The welding core wire is thus made coincident with the butt position by which the welding deviation is eliminated and the overlap of inside and outside beads is thoroughly eliminated. |
