PURPOSE:To provide a titled electric welded steel pipe which has an excellent resisting characteristic to fatigue and is obtainable inexpensively by contg. specifically composed C, Si and Mn as basic components and contg. S in the content regulated to a specific value or below. CONSTITUTION:The component compsn. for an electric welded steel pipe 1 to be used as an axle by reducing the diameter of pipe ends 2, 2' is incorporated with 0.10-0.65wt% C, 0.05-0.60% Si and 0.25-2.0% Mn as basic components and is incorporated with S regulated to <=0.008%; further one or both of 0.0010- 0.005% Ca and 0.0010-0.030% REM are incorporated therein according to need in such a way as to contain 2-6 (Cd+REM)/S and in some case, >=1 kind among 0.1-1.5% Cr, 0.15-0.5% Mo, <=4.5% Ni and <=0.1% V are incorporated therein with the balance consisting substantially of Fe. The electric welded steel pipe for an axle having an excellent resisting characteristic to fatigue is thus inexpensively obtd.
