PURPOSE:To obtain a functional Cu alloy having superior functional characteristics such as a shape memory effect and superelasticity as well as thermal stability by adding specified amounts of Sn and Nb to Cu. CONSTITUTION:A Cu alloy contg. 22-25.5wt% Sn and 0.005-0.5wt% Nb is melted and cast. One or more kinds of elements such as Zn, Al, Si, Sb, Ga, Ge, In, Be, Mn, Mg and Ni may be substituted for part of Cu or Sn to such a degree that the beta-phase structure is maintained. The resulting ingot is homogenized, annealed, hot rolled, and cold rolled to form a thin plate, and the plate is hardened by heating and quenching. A functional Cu alloy having superior mechanical characteristics such as tensile strength and elongation, superior shape memory characteristics and thermal stability is obtd. |
