PURPOSE:To make preciseness and a response time always constant over the entire region of a speed variable range, by a method wherein the pulse interval between adjacent pulse lines is preliminarily measured so as to make a pulse interval to be measured always constant and it is determined whichever pulse interval of pulse lines must be measured. CONSTITUTION:The pulse interval of a pulse line f1 is counted in a counter 1 by a clock pulse fck and the operation of k/n1 is performed from the counted result n1 and a constant k by an operator 2. A preset counter 3 performs down- count in the pulse falling of the pulse line f1 and counts the number of k/n1. The falling of k/n1-th pulse is counted in a counter 4 by the clock pulse fck and the operation of the formula is performed from the result m1 in an operator 5 and the frequency of the pulse line f1 is outputted. In the counter 1, the interval of a (k/n1-1)th pulse and a k/n1th pulse is counted and similar operation is repeatedly performed by using the result n2 to output the speed of a rotor 7.
