A plasma display device and an image processing method thereof are provided to improve gradation representing performance of the plasma display device by reducing the step difference between adjacent integer gradation values. A plasma display device includes an APL(Average Picture Level) calculator(510) and a gradation representing performance enhancing unit(530). The APL calculator calculates the APL values of input signals, which are received from respective frames. The gradation representing performance enhancing unit determines a predetermined terminal value according to the APL value, filters the image signal having n-bit gradation data according to the size of a filtering mask, which is determined by the threshold value. The gradation representing performance enhancing unit converts the filtered result to an image data having more than n-bit gradation representing data.
