PURPOSE:To obtain, in an advantageous manner, a container excellent in gas barrier property and suitable as a food container, by applying a specified layer of an adhesive to a thermoplastic resin sheet, forming the sheet into a cup- shaped container, and coating it with a vinylidene chloride polymer latex. CONSTITUTION:A sheet of a termoplastic resin such as polypropylene or polyester is provided with a layer of an adhesive which improves the bondability between the resin and a vinylidene chloride polymer. Examples of the adhesives suitably used include polyurethane adhesives and epoxy resin adhesives. The resin sheet is formed into a cup-shaped container, and is coated with a vinylidene chloride polymer latex to form a vinylidene chloride polymer layer thereon. In this way, the purpose gas barrier container is obtained. Desirable vinylidene chloride polymers include a copolymer comprising 60-95wt% vinylidene chloride and a copolymerizable monomer (e.g., vinyl chloride).
