PURPOSE:To facilitate control of a hydrophilic degree and to prevent fog by incorporating a solvent-soluble resin made of a copolymer composed essentially of maleic anhydride units in a resin binder. CONSTITUTION:An image forming layer 3 is prepared by dispersing, preferably, dissolving a metal complex compd. or this and a development inhibitor in a binder layer. An oleophilic resin contg. a copolymer composed essentially of maleic anhydride units is used for the binder. The layer 3 is patternwise exposed through a transparent original 4, and immersed into an aq. soln. of reducing agent to form a visible image 3B. As a result, the layer 3 is made properly hydrophilic, requires no hardening treatment, and can form a black image superior in contrast. |
